On 9 February, the CP students from the International Section took part in a learning visit to the Botanical Garden in Parque La Carolina, Quito. All Primary International Section teachers joined the trip, making it a shared learning experience for the whole Primary International team.
Before the visit, students prepared through a series of classroom activities about nature. They learned about plants and what they need to grow, and they explored the world of insects. As part of this work, they designed and created their own insect models using playdough, which helped them observe shapes, body parts and colours.
In English lessons, students also reviewed numbers and colours and practised simple grammar structures to describe what they could see. This preparation gave them the language they needed to talk about their observations, using sentences such as “I see three red flowers” or “The leaf is green.”
During the visit, students explored different plant environments, visited the greenhouses and carefully observed flowers, leaves and roots. They used their English to count, name colours and describe what they saw around them.
The trip was a valuable opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-life experience, develop curiosity about the natural world and use English in a meaningful context. It was an enriching and memorable day for our CP International Section students.
